Why optimum treatment?

Laughter is the best medicine!

A very important prerequisite for this modern orthodontic treatment method is to start with a thorough examination
of your jaw joints (temporomandibular joint or TMJ) which includes precisely determining the positions of your upper
and lower jaws relative to each other.
As we have already described elsewhere on this website, properly functioning, healthy jaw joints are very important to your
general health
Misalignments of the upper and lower jaws relative to each other can lead to immense TMJ problems, which can sometimes
result in other very serious disorders as already described.
Even though current health care politics no longer allow public health insurance companies to cover the costs of these
important treatment methods, it is still advisable in many cases to perform this functional analysis.
Since our goal is always to take advantage of the latest medical advancements for the health of our patients and their
teeth, we have decided to include our "Optimum Treatment" in the program of treatment methods we can offer you.

What is Optimum Treatment?
Optimum Treatment consists of a very extensive diagnosis and functional analysis of your jaw joints to determine the best
treatment method for your particular problem.
It begins with a thorough examination of your masticatory (chewing) muscles, a neurological examination of the jaw and facial
regions, followed by a general medical anamnesis, and then a manual examination of your jaw joints.
The results of these examinations are recorded on a so-called functional analysis sheet.

The anatomical transfer bow...
The anatomical transfer bow is used to register key measurements of your upper jaw that represent your personal anatomical
structure. It determines how the entire upper jaw bone and upper teeth are positioned in relation to the skull and the
distance of the upper jaw from the jaw joint.
|
|
 |
|
Transfer and mounting in the articulator...
The values measured with the transfer bow are now transferred to a so-called articulator (jaw joint simulator). We use plaster
models of your upper and lower teeth for this process
In the articulator, the model of the lower jaw is mounted in the anatomically correct position relative to the model of the upper jaw.
The articulator is a kind of mechanical jaw joint machine.
The articulator enables us to perfectly simulate the anatomically correct relative movements of your jaws using the
teeth/jaw models without having to work inside your mouth.
|
|
 |
|
 |
|
A precise diagnosis is made...
Once the positions of the upper and lower jaws relative to each other and to the jaw joint have been precisely
set up in the articulator, we are able to make an accurate diagnosis of how your joints, bones and teeth currently
interact during various motions (chewing, biting, etc.).
Since all chewing motions can be simulated, we are also able to determine the optimal positions of your teeth relative
to each other, which we then use as a guide for further treatment.

Optimum Treatment also means
using the most advanced materials.
Based on our diagnostic findings, we discuss with you which techniques and therapy alternatives could be
employed for your optimal treatment.
Optimum Treatment also means that we use the most advanced materials
for your orthodontic treatment, such as high-tech wires developed by space research and the
most advanced bracket systems.
