|
For a while now, we have been using the entirely new Incognito bracket system at our practice.
The biggest difference to conventional bracket systems is that a custom bracket is designed and fabricated individually for each of your teeth. This allows the brackets to be formed to fit your teeth more precisely than standard brackets. The brackets can also be constructed smaller and with a lower profile which accounts for their exceptional wearing comfort. To get a better idea of what the new system looks like, see the "Lab Process" page. |

After analyzing your diagnostic records, the lab uses a model to simulate the precise, ideal positions
of your teeth.
This analysis determines the optimal positions of your teeth and the exact positions and shapes of the brackets to be used. Once the brackets have been made using a complex lab process, they are placed precisely on your teeth using a transfer optimized positioning system. A computer-controlled wire bending robot is used to make the archwires with previously unheard of precision to achieve optimal forces acting on each individual tooth.. The fine archwires are then inserted into the bracket slots to do the actual work of aligning your teeth. These archwires exert slight but constant pressure on the teeth to move them slowly and gently into the correct positions. |

The space behind the teeth is much harder to reach.
The space behind the teeth is much more cramped and harder to reach. This makes it all the more important to be able to produce individualized solutions. The preparatory work required of us orthodontists and our dental labs for Lingual treatment is consequently much greater than for conventional braces attached to the outsides of the teeth. |

This is how your treatment works...
The first step for Lingual treatment is a detailed consultation. In the second step, impressions are taken of your upper and lower teeth. During the next 3-4 weeks extensive lab work must be done. Our dental technicians use a complex lab process to make your individually customized braces in collaboration with the orthodontist. Once the lab work has been completed, we make a new appointment with you to bond the brackets to your teeth. This procedure begins with the very important step of thoroughly cleaning and preparing your teeth. Now - finally we are able to install the brackets and archwires, and the process of invisibly straightening your teeth can begin. We normally check your braces every 8-12 weeks. These checkups take roughly 40-45 minutes. |
